Did you know that no food is good or bad?
Certain foods are more energy dense than others and some contain more nutrients than others. That’s it..
Going into this festive time of year, food and beverages are just exactly that, they don’t differ from any other time of the year. You’ll experience more events, last min plans, family and friend catch ups, christmas parties and Christmas day itself.
For many over this time, instead of enjoyment towards the holidays it's built up tension of anxiety over how you’ll get through and overcome the rush of all the delicious foods and beverages that surround us. Bad diet culture over the years has warped our perception on what is healthy or not and how it will affect your goals especially around these festive times. But in actual fact, There's no right or wrong on how you choose to enjoy these moments/ this time of year.
Walking into the festive season doesn't mean you have to undo all your hard work or habits built before that. There's a difference between a few fulfilled days of memories than a whole write off for the rest of the year because you feel like you let yourself down for enjoying the goodness that comes from Christmas.
Lets just set the scene for a sec, work surprised you with a last minute end of year/christmas party. No time to pre plan or know where you're going.
You may of..
Overate?
Underate?
Forgot to track?
Plans changed?
Didn’t hit your macros?
Guess what, IT HAPPENS TO ALL OF US
So your diet didn't go to plan? What do you choose?
Give up and write it off till the next week or the new year? Knowing you have to start again?
Or..
Know your ability to accept and acknowledge your choices and move on. You were able to make memories and have a good time without worrying about your food and beverage intake.
Lets just say you forget to brush your teeth one morning, do you just say ‘stuff it’ i'll wait until next week?
Yeah no..
Sounds silly doesn’t it?
you do it either the very next chance you get or the next morning.
Why derail the plan for the rest of the week/year because of one day. Same thing goes for your food intake.
Gone are the days of self sabotage, restriction in the days/weeks after and feeling like you let yourself down. Every habit and mindset shift built between now and the end of the year you take into the new year. The end of year does not have to feel like you should put off all your hard work all because of one day.
What separates your from the rest is the ability to understand:
1: all food should be enjoyed in moderation, it fulfills our physical, mental, social, emotional and spiritual health.
2: There's a difference between enjoying yourself for a night vs writing the rest of the year off. One night out of 365 days isn’t going to deter your progress.
3: you make memories and enjoy yourself without the added stress.
4: you build a healthier relationship with food and yourself
